Itinerary

Day 01

Enjoy a trip to the elephant orphanage in Pinnawala, the only of its kind in the world. Currently nearly 80 beasts, young and old, are tended here. The walk of the elephants down to the river is a delightful sight. They are driven to a bath in the near-by river 03 times a day followed by feeding. Watching babies being bottle-fed is an amusing and heartwarming sight.

Continue on to Dambulla town. Visit the 2000 year old, UNESCO-listed Dambulla cave temple. Visiting inside the caves you will be amazed as you would not find a single empty space on rock walls or the ceiling. All 05 caves are picturesquely coated in  centuries old amazing murals, each of them narrating a story.

Later on be transferred to your accommodation in Dambulla.

Accommodation : Sigiriana Resort in Dambulla

Meals : Breakfast (next Morning)

Day 02

There is no better way to start a beautiful day than climbing the Sigiriya Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most visited tourist destination in Sri Lanka. The famous gigantic lion paws gate-guard the stairs to the summit where once stood the monarch’s palace. Partway up the rock, you will see the famous frescoes of Sigiriya damsels, known to rank among the world’s oldest paintings.

Thereafter take an informative excursion to a spice garden in Matale. Gain an insight into how spices that you have used to flavor you food at home, and many other tropical herbs that you have known or heard of, are grown. Later on be transferred back to your drop-off point.
