On reaching Kandy, which is a UNESCO heritage city, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. The temple is the most revered Buddhist shrine in the island and houses a tooth relic of the Lord Buddha. Hop on a boat for a joyful ride on the man-made Kandy Lake that offers great views of the old part of the town and the over a century and a half old Queens Hotel in the backdrop of Udawatta Kele forest reserve. Leave some time to browse through fabulous souvenir stores before heading back to Colombo.
