The Tour :

Honeymoon in Sri Lanka is specially designed for summer vacation. The tour steers you through the ‘Cultural Triangle’, a vast area famed for a multitude of UNESCO world heritage Sites, to the pristine east coast. En route you will enjoy, among many other activities and experiences, thrilling whitewater rafting in Kitulgala, a wildlife safari in the Minneriya National Park and a walk in the Kandy city. At the end of your beach break, catch a scenic sea plane back to the west coast.

When to go :

March through October. Good to go generally year-round, if you skip November and December.

Strenuousness :

Mild. White water rafting and climbing Sigiriya are the only more or less vigorous activities.

Itinerary

Day 01

Transfer to the hotel in Negombo, just 20 minutes journey from the airport. Unwind and relax. Spend a care-free afternoon by the ocean.

Day 02

This morning depart for Kitulgala. Slip into your wet suit, grab a paddle and enjoy an adventurous 05 km league white water rafting trip on the Kelani River. Transfer to the hotel in Kandy. In the afternoon embark on a city tour. The bustling city offers great shopping opportunities too. In the evening enjoy a Cultural show followed by a visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

Day 03

Travel northward to Dambulla town. On the way, take an informative guided walk in a spice garden in Matale. Here you can pick a lesson on how to prepare local dishes using tropical spices too. Later on visit the 2000 year old, UNESCO-listed Dambulla cave temple. Walls and ceilings of the 05 caves here are coated in centuries old murals. Transfer to the hotel in Sigiriya. In the afternoon enjoy a thrilling jeep safari in the Minneriya National Park, renowned for the largest seasonal elephant-gathering in the world. If elephants have migrated to the near-by Kaudulla Park, we shall follow them there.

Day 04

What can be more exciting than climbing the majestic Sigiriya Rock in the morning, Sri Lanka’s most visited tourist attraction! The famous gigantic lion paws gate-guard the stairs to the summit where once stood the monarch’s palace. Thereafter head further east to explore the ruins of bygone Polonnaruwa kingdom. And later head for your beach-break in Pasikudah.

Days 05 - 07

Unwind, relax and catch a tan as you enjoy your free days by the Indian Ocean.

Day 08

This morning be transferred to the Lady Manning Drive water aerodrome in Batticaloa. Enjoy a bird’s eye view of the country as you hop aboard an air taxi bound for the Waters Edge in Colombo. Transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon embark on a city tour of Colombo; visit the vividly colorful Gangarama Temple and the Colombo National Museum.

Day 09

At noon be transferred back to the airport for your flight.
