Itinerary

Day 01

Depart for your accommodation in rural Tissamaharama town, located in the deep-south of the island. We shall take the  southern express highway to save time.

In the afternoon set out on a thrilling jeep safari in the Yala National Park. Spotted deer, wild boar, wild buffalo, mugger crocodiles, macaques and elephants are commonly spotted here, but sloth bear sightings are rare. So are leopards, contrary to the fact that Yala is known to house the largest leopard population in the world.

Accommodation : Kithala Resort in Tissamaharama

Meals : Breakfast (next Morning)

Day 02

Visit the Rock Monastery of Mulgirigala, which comprises a number of fascinating caves located at different heights of an imposing 210 m high boulder. Don’t miss out the cavity in one wall where a cobra had inhabited once without causing harm to pilgrims.

Thereafter explore the magnificent Dutch Fort of Galle, known to be the best preserved colonial sea fort in Asia. Take a walk leisurely down its cobbled narrow streets and along ramparts up to the lighthouse. And visit the Maritime Museum. Among the historic landmarks within is the reputedly oldest breadfruit tree in the island.

Later on be transferred back to your drop-off point.
