The Excursion :

This family-friendly program takes you along the southern beach-strip of Sri Lanka, combining wildlife and heritage experiences. Start by visiting the Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda to observe how eggs are incubated and hatchlings are nurtured before release into the ocean. Continue with an exciting river safari through the mangroves of Madu River, the second-largest swamp in the country, where you can spot diverse flora and fauna. Conclude the day with a visit to the UNESCO-listed Dutch Fort of Galle. The entire excursion lasts approximately 7–8 hours, offering a perfect blend of adventure, nature, and history. on our day tours in Sri Lanka

Sight : Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda

Visit a turtle hatchery on the beach strip of Kosgoda, where turtle eggs collected from fishermen are incubated over a period of time before setting free to the ocean.

Sight : Boat safari on Madu River

  • Embark on an exciting river safari on Madu River, the second-largest swamp in Sri Lanka. 
  • Cruise through a shady mangrove forest, spotting monitor lizards, monkeys, and crocodiles along the way. 
  • Visit a Buddhist monastery located on one of the islands. 
  • Explore an island where locals peel cinnamon and extract cinnamon oil. 
  • Enjoy birdwatching in this RAMSAR-protected wetland, home to a variety of exotic bird species. 
  • Conclude the river safari with stunning views of the river meeting the ocean at Balapitiya, a serene fishing village. 

Sight : Dutch Fort of Galle

Explore the magnificent Dutch Fort of Galle, one of the best preserved colonial sea forts in Asia. Take a stroll down its cobbled narrow streets and along ramparts upto the lighthouse. The streets and alleys here ooze charm. The National Maritime Museum, which occupies a 17th century Dutch warehouse, showcases an interesting collection of marine artifacts discovered during underwater expeditions in shipwrecks along the southern coast. Among other historic landmarks within the fort is the reputedly oldest breadfruit tree in the island.
